Gino came to the USA in 1972 from Naples, Italy with his wife and child. Searching for a better opportunity and looking to join his parents and siblings, Gino became a US citizen in 1975. Residing in Connecticut he worked as a chef in many different cities, including New York. Finally settling on the very popular Wooster Street in New Haven CT. He also cooked for Naples Pizza at Yale University. After moving to San Antonio Texas in 1999 he helped establish Naples Pizza. With the desire to open his own authentic Italian restaurant, Gino and Anna Ciccone, eventually opened Sorrento Ristorante on 5146 Broadway in Alamo Heights in 2001.
After passing away in 2006 he left his wife Anna and daughter Margherita Sorrento Ristorante. With dedication and hard work they have been successful in keeping his dream alive. Also with the help and support of Alamo Heights and The City of San Antonio Sorrento Ristorante has become a local favorite and proud supporter of the community.
